Frequently Asked Questions
Purchase & Subscription
Why Do I Need A Subscription And Will The Price Ever Change?
A subscription is required for your Solid GPS tracker to work. Each tracker has a built-in SIM card that connects to mobile networks so it can send location updates straight to your app.
Your subscription covers everything:
- SIM data and connectivity (no telcos, contracts or setup hassles)
- Full access to the Solid GPS app with alerts, history and settings
- Ongoing software improvements and local customer support
We manage tens of thousands of trackers, so we get low bulk data rates and pass the savings on.
Since launching Solid GPS, we’ve never increased our subscription price.
Without an active subscription, your tracker won’t send location updates or alerts.
What’s Included In My Purchase?
Here’s exactly what you’ll receive:
- Solid GPS tracker
- Built-in 4G SIM card with unlimited data
- Charging cable
- Anti-Theft Decal ($10 Value)
- Instruction manual
- 31-day free trial
- 12-month hardware warranty
Can I Use My Own SIM Card?
You are not able to use your own SIM card.
Solid GPS uses custom-built SIM cards that automatically connect to multiple mobile networks across the world. This ensures reliable coverage without dropouts or setup issues.
Regular SIM cards don’t provide the same multi-network roaming, data stability or automatic integration with the Solid GPS system.
Our subscription keeps your tracker connected everywhere it’s supported, without extra setup, fees or technical headaches.
Can I Return The Tracker If I Don’t Want It?
Yes, if you decide Solid GPS isn’t right for you during your 31-day free trial, you can cancel your subscription anytime and return the tracker for a full refund.
Just email us at support@solidgps.com and our support team will help you out.
Battery & Charging
Can I Have My Tracker Permanently Plugged Into The USB?
Yes, you can keep your Solid GPS permanently powered by plugging it into a USB port in your vehicle. It will stay charged while connected, so you’ll never need to remove it for recharging.
How Long Does The Battery Last, And Will I Need To Replace Or Recharge It?
No replacement needed. The battery is fully rechargeable.
You’ll get an automatic alert to your phone and email when it hits 30%, so there’s plenty of time to recharge.
Since it only needs recharging every 3, 6 or 12 months (depending on your model), it’ll last for years.
How Long Does It Take To Recharge The Battery?
We recommend recharging your Solid GPS tracker overnight. It usually takes around 12 hours to fully charge, and you can top it up anytime for peace of mind.
Setup & Installation
Can I Manage Multiple Trackers Under One Account?
Yes, you can add as many trackers as you like to one Solid GPS account. It’s simple to manage and track them all in one place.
To keep things organised, you can assign each tracker a custom name and colour.
Just head to the account settings in the Solid GPS app or website to manage them anytime.
Can More Than One Person Access The Same Tracker?
Yes, you can share access to your tracker with others through your Solid GPS account.
Each person you share with can log in from their own device and see the same live location and movement history.
This makes it ideal for families, teams or shared vehicles where multiple people need visibility.
Does The Tracker Use My Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Or Phone?
No. Solid GPS doesn’t rely on your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or phone.
It uses GPS satellites to pinpoint its location and a built-in SIM card to send that data directly to your Solid GPS app, completely independent of your devices.
You’ll receive instant alerts and live tracking through the app or any browser, even if your phone is off or miles away.
Where Do I Hide My Tracker?
You can hide your tracker almost anywhere inside your vehicle.
Common spots include glove compartments, under seats, storage bins, inside the dashboard or behind panels.
It works through most materials except when fully enclosed by metal (metal toolboxes, etc.), so you can keep it hidden without affecting performance.
Coverage & App
Which Countries Are Supported?
Solid GPS operates in Australia, the United States and New Zealand, with full coverage and local payment options in each region.
If you’re outside these countries, email us at support@solidgps.com and we’ll confirm whether your area is supported.
What Network Does It Use, And How Far Can It Track From My Device?
Solid GPS uses real 4G GPS, not Bluetooth, so there’s no fixed range limit like you’d get from a Bluetooth tracker. It reports over whichever local networks are supported in your region, automatically switching to whichever has the strongest signal.
How Does Solid GPS Work? What Are Its Features?
Solid GPS locates your vehicle using GPS satellites and sends updates to your app over its built-in 4G SIM, every 2 minutes while moving and once a day while parked.
The app gives you live location, full trip history, movement alerts, custom geofencing with boundary alerts and a shareable live tracking link you can hand straight to police.
Can I Track My Solid GPS Using A Mobile App Or A Computer?
Yes. The Solid GPS app is available on iOS and Android, and you can also track from any web browser on your computer.
Will The Tracker Work With My Mobile Carrier?
Yes. It doesn’t matter what mobile network you personally use. Solid GPS runs on its own built-in SIM and network, independent of your phone plan or carrier.
